  • THE TRUE VINE

https://www.pillarandgroundofthetruth.online/   John chapter 15 is a wonderful chapter about the promises of God and it gives assurance to the believer. It was first brought to my attention through a contact which God made with me in 1981. Let us examine a few of the verses.   Verse 1 says “ I am the True Vine, and my Father is the Husbandman . ” Jesus said He is the true Vine. There are many vines, even Satan is a vine but is not the True Vine. There is only one True Vine and this is Jesus Christ.   Verse 2 says “ Every branch in Me that beareth not fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”   If you are in Christ and you are not bearing the fruit that He desires He will take you out. He will cut you off because it is not possible to be on the Real True Spiritual Vine that is Christ and not be bearing the fruit of righteousness. The Husbandman which is God is the One who assess the believer and knows if that individual is bearing the right fruit.    The Scriptures say that those who are bearing fruit will be purged by God. Children of God go through purging every day, every tribulation, trials and problems that you have in your day to day living, is a form of purging. This purging is what makes you to be a better person, without problems you cannot be spiritually better, without problems you cannot develop into or be the follower that God wants you to be. As we go through life, we do not appreciate the problems that we face but we must learn to embrace them because in every problem that you face God is teaching you a valuable lesson. Ensure that you learn the lesson so that you will not be taught that same lesson again.   Verse 3 says “ Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.”    It is the word of God that makes us clean. Many persons believe that it is how energetic you are in worship or how fervent you seem to others but none of these by themselves make you spiritually clean. What makes you clean is your godly lifestyle which is made possible by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the studying and understanding of the word of God. This is what leads you into the path that teaches you what God wants you to know.   It is possible to come to an Assembly daily and participate in all activities yet you have not an ounce of godliness in you, because you are not living in obedience to the God’s will and purpose. It is the written word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit that bring understanding of God’s will and submission to His will. The devil always tries to prevent everyone that is called by the name of the Lord from knowing the word because he strives in ignorance. One’s educational capabilities is not a deterrent to obeying God. God ministers to the inner man. Some sometimes or often say I can’t read or I don’t like to read, I don’t like to write, I don’t like to do this, I don’t like to do that. That is the devil at work in those life; he loves to put boundaries around you that will prevent your blessings.   Verse 4 says “ Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me. ”   By abiding in Me, Jesus means live in Me and when you live in Me, I will live in you. Jesus can only live in you when you are bearing the right fruit. He can only live in you when you are the real true branch attached to the real True Vine. Jesus further stated that if you do not live in Me, you cannot bear fruit, you cannot be out there hanging in the wind and you bear the right fruit, you only do so when you abide in Christ. It is good to live a life that is pleasing to God, it is good to live a life that is in Christ so that as you go from day to day you can bring forth godly fruit.   Verse 5 says “ I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing. ”   Jesus said that He is the Vine and everyone who has repented, been converted and transformed into a new creature is the branch. You cannot be a branch unless you have repented and turned from sin. When you are the branch, you bring forth much fruit. Notice that when you begin to progress you first bring forth fruit, then you bring forth more fruit, then you bring forth much fruit.   Children of God are not static and that is why you do not need to covet anything, because the more you lift up God is the more God uplifts you. When you lift up God with a true heart, you live for Him not because you are looking for something but because you love Him and you have dedicated yourself to Him. As you obey Him, He will lift you up and multiply you as you go along. His gifts are permanent especially to the obedient ones. What God has given to anyone cannot be taken away except by Him.   Verse 6 says “ If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. ”   If one does not abide in Christ, live in Him or obey His words such individual will not be accepted in God’s Kingdom. What does it mean to abide in Christ? It means being obedient and living in obedience to the will of God. That is where we have a problem, because being humans with a carnal desire we want to do our own thing, sometimes we think that God is too slow or restrictive. Sometimes the way in which God is dealing with something is not how you want to deal with it, so you want to find another avenue to deal with it, but the word of God tells us, if you are not living in obedience to God through Jesus Christ, then you shall be cast off as a branch and you shall wither.   Now what do you do with something that is withered and has become dried wood? You take it and light a fire. So, when one is cast off from Christ, one has become useless and is only suitable for the fire. When you are cast off you have no good relationship with God, you might think you have one but you have not. Many who are living in hypocrisy are empowered by familiar spirits. These familiar spirits do not give rest. There is always an inner battle being fought. Everyone should be aware of the manifestations of familiar spirits because this spirit can be transferred through contact activities. There can also be a transference of power. We must be vigilant to avoid the transference of familiar power, because if an individual has the spirit of lie and he/she is your close friend, you steadily become a liar because you are mingling with the same spirit. If you do not have the same spirit, you cannot be close friend of anyone whose behaviour is in rebellion to holiness.   If the individual is full of pride or is contentious and that individual is your close friend you can acquire that spirit and get corrupted as you go along. It is fitting that we bear in mind this quote, “ show me your company and I will tell you who you are . ” If one aligns oneself with people who are spiritual, you become spiritually strong, and if you align yourself with weak fences you will topple over, this has been proven repeatedly. That is why Jesus said if you are not abiding in Me, I am going to cast you off because t wo cannot walk together except they be agreed  (Amos 3:3). Therefore, it is important for us to live in obedience to the will of God.   Verse 7 says “ If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you . ”   Many prayers are unanswered because we are not in the will of God, if we are in the will of God we asked according to the will of God and God answers according to His will. Today almost everyone is running after signs and wonders, they do not want the word of God they want signs and wonders and because they are going after signs and wonders they are losing sight of the best thing - the word of God. It says abide in Me and My words will abide in you. As the song writer says “ My stubborn will at last hath yielded I would be Thine and Thine alone, and this the prayer my lips are bringing, Lord, let in me Thy will be done.”   The word of God has power and it gives you strength to fight the Goliaths of your life, it is what gives you the wisdom to overcome the words that are going against you, to make the right decisions and to live a life that is pleasing to God. When the word of God abides in you whatever you ask for will be according to His will. A believer cannot be like Herodias and ask for the head of John the Baptist but will instead ask the Lord for wisdom, knowledge and understanding, ask the Lord to give you a clear eye sight, ask the Lord to give you a clean heart and a clear mind, ask the Lord to remove carnalities from you and that every destructive force that the devil has set up in your life be removed. When you do this, you are building a relationship of holiness with God.   Verse 8 says “ Herein is My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be My disciples. ”   When it is that you abide in Jesus and the will of Christ is shown in your life then it is that you will give glory to the Father. That is when God the Father will find glory in you. Your acceptance of Christ will be a great demonstration that Christ’s sacrifice was not in vain. When you are bearing much fruit, you are a disciple of Jesus, ask yourself, am I a disciple of Christ? A disciple is one who is disciplined. Am I disciplined in Christ or am I partially disciplined? If you are partially disciplined you are not a disciple.   Jesus continues in verse 9 which says “ As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you: continue ye in My love . ” The song writer wrote “ He left the Splendour of Heaven knowing His destiny, was the lonely hill of Golgotha, there to lay down His life for me. If that isn't love .”   Wasn’t that love? He left the splendour of Heaven knowing that His destiny was the cross on Golgotha’s hill, was the spitting in His face, was the smiting on the cheek, was the gambling for His garment, for the crown of thorns, for the whip on His back and the cross and the journey to the place of crucifixion. He did it for us yet when you are faced with a little difficulty to you the Christian journey becomes hard. Suddenly you cannot manage. You no longer focus on Christ and know thar Him grace is sufficient for you and His strength is made perfect in weakness. Self takes over and pride and ego stand in the way. Your ego is not you, your ego is the devil using you, when the ego comes up recognize that the devil is at work, therefore, remove ego and put Christ in the centre of our lives. We are promised love from the Father if we abide in Christ because Christ loves us unconditionally.   He points out something very important in verse 10 which says “ If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love. ”   What are the Commandments that He is talking about, it goes back to the same Ten Commandments given on Mount Sinai. Every command that Christ gives is anchored in the Ten Commandments. One will say that it wasn’t Jesus who gave the Commandments, it was God, Jesus gave it too, because as His Father did so did He, whatever His Father does He sanctions it, He said I and my Father are one, therefore, it is God’s Commandments, it is Jesus’s Commandments. It says if you abide in them or you keep them you shall live in Christ’s love, it says because Christ has kept them; He was enjoying His Father’s love.   Verse 11 says “ These things have I spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. ”   Jesus is telling us these things because He wants us to have joy, everybody has happiness, but when it comes to joy it is your connection in Jesus that gives joy. Joy is a fruit of the spirit, so except the Holy Spirit is living in you, you cannot have joy. When you have joy do not allow any situation to take it from you. There is a song that says “ I still have joy, after all I’ve been through I still have joy. ” Hold onto joy no matter what you are going through, because it is your connection to God. Jesus was telling us that the joy He have within Him will remain in us so that our joy might be full. Do not focus on the negative things in life but focus on the positive things and keep your joy.   Verse 12 says “ This is my Commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. ”    It doesn’t matter what anyone has done to you; there is no need for hatred. Do not hate them, allow God to deal with the issue. He will deal with it in due time. Christ asks us to genuinely love one another. When we talk about love we are talking about agape love which allows us to deal with every situation fairly. Jesus Christ deals with us fair and justly, so it is that we must deal justly.   Verse 14 says “ Ye are My friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. ”   It says here that you are My friends, in John 13 Jesus spoke about servants, that as a follower of Christ you are a servant. In John 15 He said that you are His friend, in John 20 He says you are His brethren. When you abide in Him know that you are not only a servant, but you are a servant who is a friend, you are a servant who is a brethren, you are a brethren who is still a friend and a servant. Our relationship with Him is intertwined together.     Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down His life for His friends .   Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe, sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow . Do not tell me about what I was, do not tell me about what I have left behind, tell me about what I am now. Gone are the days when the devil could have pointed his finger. Now being a person who has been converted to righteousness and living in Christ he has to stand aside and know that he has no authority to accuse you because you are washed in the blood of Jesus Christ, you are saved and sanctified and on your way to the kingdom of God.   Do not harbour thoughts about yesterday, tell yourself about today and your intention to go through. Sing with confidence, “I intend to go thru, I intend to be true, thru sunshine or thru shadows dim ” Even in the rain of circumstances when Jordan is flowing bank to bank, by the grace of God you will go through. Think on the words of this song “ I’m too near to my home, too near to my glorious home, I can’t turn back in sin I’ve made my choice, there is nothing worthwhile to look about now praise God, God’s kingdom is due, I’m too near to my glorious home to turn back now.”     When it is that the devil points his finger, when he throws stones at you, when you look and you see darkness, remember there is light, because your life is hidden in Christ, there must be light. Tell yourself, I am going to be like Jacob, I am going to hang on and I will not let go until I get the blessing from the Lord.   Sometimes we give up too early, we get frustrated too early. P ress on the battle won’t be very, very long, press on the battle won’t be long, if we ever meet again, we will join the glorious run press on the battle won’t be long . The same God who told Jehoshaphat that the battle is not yours it’s the Lords ’, is the same God that fight battles in your life. Weeping might endure for the night but joy comes in the morning, cry through the night but hold on joy is coming. The song writer says “ On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand ,” another one said, “ Let me loose myself and find it Lord in Thee may all self be slain oh God and I see all there and it cost me grieve and pain let me find my life again when I loose myself and find it Lord in Thee .” “   Still another encourages us with these words, Lord walk beside me, lead me and guide me and take all those memories of sinning away, hold me so close Lord till I feel your heart beat and don’t let me wonder away. ”   Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down His life for His friends.   Jesus categorised who His friends are, He said you are His friends if you do whatsoever, He commands you. Walk in the will of God, live in the will of God, do not let any circumstances in your life determine whether or not you are going to live for God. Know deep within you that your life is hidden in Christ, you know deep within you that for you to live is Christ and to die is gain, know deep within you that you are anchored on the True Vine and you are cared for by the Husbandman and that as you live and abide in the presence of God from day to day you shall bring forth fruit, you shall bring forth more fruit, you shall bring forth much fruit and you shall be a servant who is both a friend and a brethren of Jesus Christ.   Let your anchor be in the Lord and let nothing persuade you to lose your joy but hold on to your joy. Weeping endures but for a night but joy comes in the morning and every challenge makes you sharper for the Lord, so you are used better, you are more effective, embrace your problems and embrace the power of God in your life. Abide in the Lord and He shall most certainly abide in you. Writer - A. E. • WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT YOUR SEXUAL CHOICE?

https://www.pillarandgroundofthetruth.online/     Leviticus 20:13  If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. Romans 1:27  -  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.   Romans 1:32   -  Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.   Jude 1:7   -  Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. What has God put in place to guide our sexual relationship?   1 Corinthians 7:2  -  Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Mark 10:6-9 - 6 -   But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. 9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. There has been a constant cry for the acceptance of same sex marriage unions and some world rulers have given their stamp of approval. They have given their approval to activity that God had disallowed. We must understand that since rulers had given this approval we must agree that all the components of a marital relationship were given. Bearing this in mind we must question the path we are taking and the direction in which we are heading.   Is God pleased with this decision? If not, what should be done? I am using this opportunity to remind us that man cannot purify and sanctify what God has condemned. We have our theories but we cannot override God’s decision. Let us learn how to approach this issue from a biblical perspective. Romans 1:18 , tells us- for the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold the truth in unrighteousness . Those of us who believe the words of God must stand on the truth of His words. We must never compromise.   Romans 1:20-24 confirm that man sin presumptuously because they have do not give God the glory and professing themselves to be wise they became fools. This evil wisdom is in unison with carnal lusts which have caused humans to engage in sexual depraved activities. This was never God’s plan for man therefore God allows all who engage in such uncleanness the opportunity to dishonour their own bodies between themselves.   Deut. 18:22 states, ‘thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind, it is an abomination . This is further strengthened in Lev. 20:13, ‘ if a man lie with mankind as he lieth with a woman both of them have committed abomination they shall surely be put to death; their blood be upon them . This is not advocating that you kill persons who are engaged in same sex relationships. Neither are you being asked to condone; what you are being asked to do is to examine the issue from a biblical perspective and to address it in a Christlike manner. Remember that the final judgement and penalty rest with God.   The words of God clearly state that two persons of the same sex involved in a sexual relationship are committing an abomination. Abomination means that which is detestable and extremely sinful. Persons who go against God’s will and commit such act will be punished by God. Notice that God said the individuals who are engaged in this act will be held guilty for their behaviour.   Everyone has a choice. If one is at first forced into homosexual or any other sexual deviant activities, he/she has a choice to refuse to continue. It is a matter of choice. Sexual deviant tendencies come from sinful urges which can be controlled through the power of God. Mankind is theorising excuses for this behaviour but there are no excuses. There is none of us whom God had made with sexual deviant tendencies. If He had His word would not have been so intolerant against such actions neither would such be labelled an Abomination.    Many young people are engaging in this activity because it gives easy wealth. They do not consider the negative effects on their lives. Their greed blinds them to the pitfalls such as HIV/AIDS, depression, uncontrollable anger, suicide, intense jealousy, cancer and other health issues, insecurity etc. As stated previously this is not about condemnation. It is best for us to counsel and guide so that a godly change can be effected and persons with these evil urges can be helped. Let us pray for those involved that they will adhere to God’s words and renounce evil from their lives. 1st Corinthians 6:9 tells us that no effeminate person or those who abuse themselves with mankind will inherit the Kingdom of God.  Today it is sometimes challenging to differentiate between genders based on outward appearances because many are imitating their opposite gender. Why are so many men not speaking, dressing and acting as men and likewise women as women. Presently you can hardly differentiate between some types of clothing. Both sexes are wearing the same design. Moreover, when men style their hair similar to women and put in their earring, manicure their nails etc. You must look closely to discern if you are looking at a woman or a man. God said men should never be effeminate; they should not compete with women in dressing neither should women be masculine and compete against men.   Deuteronomy 23:18 says we should not bring the price of a dog into God’s house . The word dog is translated from the Hebrew word ‘ keleb’ and is referring to a male prostitute. This statement tells us that not all offerings are acceptable in God’s house. We should examine this from different angles: not only the money gained from male prostitution but also female prostitution, drugs, war, selling of arms, gambling, money rituals and the innumerable ungodly actions through which wealth is accumulated are unacceptable to God. Deuteronomy 23:17 tells us that none of our girls should be a whore and no son a sodomite. A woman might say that she is not selling her body but whoredom as defined by the Bible includes all sexual activities outside of marriage. Leviticus 18:22-23 warns us not to have sexual relationship with an animal because by doing so one becomes defile and it brings confusion. This sexual activity is called bestiality. Although this atrocity is gaining popularity it is an abomination for humans to be sexually involved with animals. We learn from the Scriptures that these abominations were from ancient days. Romans 1:27-28 tell us that men leave the natural use of women burned in their lust towards each other doing that which is unseemly . They do not retain God in their knowledge therefore God has left them to their reprobate mind . Nothing has changed; mankind is still behaving the same. Due to technology, the world is now a global village, population has exploded and evil  activities are more pronounced. Does this make such right? No, it was wrong from the beginning and it remains wrong to the end. God told Israel in Leviticus 18:27 that their sinful activities had polluted the land . Presently this activity is polluting the world.  How can Believers remain silent and be remain spotless? How can we effect a positive change towards godliness? Research is showing that there is an increasing acceptance and tolerance for same sex unions. As we move farther and farther away from godly principles, we see nothing wrong with this abomination. There are even assumed ministers of Christianity who are welcoming the idea of same sex marriage and there are those who are refusing to speak against it because they do not want to offend those involved. I believe that these individuals should assess the solemnity of marriage based on God’s standard. Some supporters of same sex relationships are even trying to taint the pure relationships of outstanding godly people. They are stating that these outstanding men and women of God had homosexual relationships with each other. People like– Ruth and Naomi, David and Jonathan, Daniel and Ashpenaz. Can you imagine such atrocity. We must consider how we will be giving an account of our actions as we go merrily along the way each day indulging our carnal desires and leaving the pathway of holiness. There are some who are engaged in this abomination who sincerely desire to change. Our concern must be focused on them; we must reach out a helping hand.  We must also give godly guidance to those who are rebellious. Remember God sent Jesus to die for all. Here are ways in which we can teach them how to obtain wisdom and guidance from God. They should: Be honest and forthright about their sinful lusts and actions Confess and repent of their sins and ask that the transformative power of God through the Holy Spirit be active in them Ask the Lord to cleanse them of their past and make them a new creature Study God’s words and get an in-depth understanding while building a positive relationship with God Ask the Lord for His perpetual guidance and humble themselves while acknowledging their errors Receive the Lord as their personal Saviour and live in obedience to God's perfect will by the power or the Holy Ghost.   People of God should try to understand the operations of the demonic forces that drive a person to behave against God’s principles. We should be aware of the vigilance and determination of the devil and his team as they seek to destroy our eternal destiny with God. Therefore, we must ask the Lord to give us the wisdom and love to deal with those who are offended by our stance for holiness and if permitted use the Scriptures to guide them to a better life. We must refuse to be intimidated and in all things follow Christ's example.   People of God wherever you are, whatever the consequences never condone with sin in any form; make no excuse for ungodly behaviours. So many things are going wrong we have the Bible as our guideline let us adhere to God’s words. Whatever God says is wrong, it is wrong and what He deems right is right. Amen May God bless you in your corner as you consistently shine for HIM and teach others about HIM. Writer - A. E. • PRAISE THE LORD

https://www.pillarandgroundofthetruth.online/   Praise is giving honour and adoration to God; it means to be thankful for God’s blessings, and to declare our appreciation to God and to others. It can only be truly given when one has a thankful heart and is accepting of the awesome magnificence of God. Worship means to prostrate oneself, to bow down, to fall face down, to pay homage and to pay respect.” Sincere worship is the highest form of honour and respect that we can show towards God.   God has been faithful to us. As we reflect on God’s purpose for mankind we need to know that humans were made to worship God and God expects us to honour Him with our praises. When we praise God sincerely, we gain spiritual strength and victory in our circumstances.  Psalm 100 tells us to make a joyful noise unto the Lord and to serve the Lord with gladness and come before His presence with singing .  We should know that God is the True God and it is He that hath made us. Worship that is contrary to true worship and distorts godly worship is not a joyful noise. Only those who serve God sincerely can make a joyful noise. We must understand that offering praise is a sacrifice. We offer praise just as we would offer our tithes. When offered right, praise is orderly, spiritually enlightening and not confusing. Satan is covetous he does not like when we praise God. Therefore he places in the mind of man ideas which distort truth; especially regarding praise. When the Church of God fell into apostasy manmade rituals and dry ceremonies were introduced. Worship in those assemblies became dead, solemn, methodical, pious and stereotyped. Worship then become highly sophisticated and engineered by man. This type of worship lacks the presence and power of the Spirit of God. In worship centre where God is not truly honoured, evil thrives. Satan has to ensure that he has places where he can plant his agents which include those who are members of secret societies but are also assumed to be good religious leaders. That is why presently we have so many ungodly people occupying high positions in places of worship. Remember that the Scriptures warned us that we are fighting against spiritual wickedness therefore we should put on God’s armour. True worshippers should stand spiritual guard against the tricks of the devil. They must be on the lookout for false teachings because righteousness and falsehood cannot be unified. True worshippers cannot be concerned about popularity; our concern should be maintaining God’s truth amidst the present high level of falsehood and demonic worship which is infiltrating the minds of God’s creation and places of worship.  In an effort to turn people’s mind from Truth the devil had caused confusion to develop regarding the Holy Spirit. The Apostle Paul had to address the issue in 1st Corinthians 14 and until today the confusion still remains. Presently there are many teachings regarding the reception and manifestation of the Holy Spirit. However, I entreat you to study and sincerely ask the Lord to lead you into His Truth.   Before offering praise as a sacrifice to God, we must examine ourselves and ensure that our conscience is right and in tune with God. When David sinned, he did not take up a tambourine and dance and sing before God. Instead, he confessed his sins and pleaded for God’s mercy and forgiveness. Many of us take church going as a cloak for our sins. We act pious on the pulpit, in the choir and in the pew, our voices loudly proclaim God’s glory but our hearts are far away from Him. This is corrosive worship. It is unacceptable to God. This type of worship leads to demon infestation. Did you know that many individuals who in our human eyes and to our human ears are speaking in tongues and manifesting in the Spirit are in fact in the control of demons?  Be reminded that Jesus stated that those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Psalm 15 advises us about those whom God accept. He accepts those who walk uprightly, work righteousness, speak truth in the heart, do not backbite, do no evil to their neighbour, do not condone with sin, honour God’s people, do not swear, don’t surcharge others nor oppress others. Worshippers must follow God’s Commandments and the Testimonies of Jesus Christ in this way we walk uprightly and work righteously. It is amazing how much time church goers find for gossiping and walking from place to place creating mischief. The word of God encourages us to spend our time in praise to God. Even our actions should be in praise God. Ephesians 5:19-20 tell us that we should speak to ourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in our hearts to the Lord. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ . If this advice is followed then mischief would be wiped out and there would be love, peace and unity within the Assemblies. As a result, the world would be a better place because Christ like behaviour would be exhibited by believers. Ephesians 4 further tells us how true worshippers should behave. Let me list a few behaviours which should not be present in the lives of believers: lying, stealing, anger, laziness, corrupt conversation, wrath, bitterness, unforgiveness, malice, covetousness, hard heartedness or any form of deceit.  Praise and worship is not about how many songs you know, how well you sing, how well you preach, what positions you hold in the congregation or how long you have been attending church. It is about the cleanness of your heart and your connection with God. Remember God is not mocked and whatsoever a man soweth that shall he reap. If you have sinned and you are unwilling to repent, I would ask you not be daring and go into the Lord’s house to offer an unacceptable praise offering it is best that you rebuke the devil and repent of your sins.   O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise Thy name; for Thou hast done wonderful things; Thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. • SOON THERE WILL BE NO MORE TEARS https://www.pillarandgroundofthetruth.online/

Tears are outlets felt inwardly. They are emotional expressions which will not be present in the Kingdom of God because there will be no situations that bring sadness. In Rev 7:13 one of the elders answered, saying unto me, " What are these which are arrayed in white robes, and whence came they ?" The response given was ‘ Sir, Thou knowest ." Then then Elder said, " These are they which came out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb .   According to Revelation 7:16,17  Those who will be redeemed shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes from their eyes." Isn’t this a wonderful picture of the fulfilment of God’s promise? I love the final statement ‘ God shall wipe away all tears from our eyes .’ This promise is made to those of us who are faithful followers of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.   Tears come through varied situations and today we will examine a few reasons for our tears.    There are tears of pity   While Jesus was on earth He openly wept in pity for the disobedient. In Luke 19 it is recorded that when He looked at Jerusalem He wept because He knew that Jerusalem would be destroyed because of the unrepentant heart of its inhabitants. Children of God presently weep because of the sinful state of this world. It is our responsibility to weep and mourn before God for those who are rejecting the plan of salvation.     There are tears of sympathy   We should sympathise with those who are experiencing sorrowful situations and sometimes our sympathy evokes tears. Lazarus was Jesus’ friend and when he died Jesus wept at his grave. We too will mourn at many graves especially when the death in our estimation was unnecessary.   There are tears of bereavement   We read in 2 Samuel 15-18 a record of a terrible disunity which occurred between David and his beloved son, Absalom. David’ authority was undermined by Absalom and this caused David great sorrow. During the turmoil between Absalom and David, Absalom lost his life. David wept bitterly for his son Absalom. He said " O my son Absalom; my son, my son Absalom; would God I had died for thee, O Absalom my son, my son!" Despite the betrayal David still loved his son and did not want him to die.   Jesus spoke Rachel weeping for her children because they were no more: Matthew 2:18 " In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not." When Herod the Great heard about the birth of Jesus he tried to get rid of the baby by ordering the death of all infants two years and under. When this atrocity took place there was much weeping and wailing. Today there are many parents who are weeping and who will be weeping for their children due to the challenges of life. As parents lose their children to the cold hands of death the only solace they can get is the confidence that they had trained their children well and that the children knew the Lord. I pray that every parent will teach their children the Gospel Truth so that they can obtain this comfort in the time of grief. Death is final no changes can be made.   There are the tears of the penitent   Luke 7:37 tells us about the woman who repented of her sinful habits and how she displayed her penitence by anointing Jesus with an expensive oil.   Luke 7:38 tells us how she stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. When you have met the Lord, your tears express godly sorrow for your sins. Peter wept after he denied Jesus: Luke 22:62 says, ‘ So Peter went out and wept bitterly . When we have an understanding of the gospel and walk contrarily, our conscience is pricked and we are uncomfortable.   We shed tears of anxiety   As we look around us at the moral decay of the world we pray and beseech God and shed tears of anxiety for the saving of our family, friends, and wider society. It is the believer’s responsibility to warn and beseech persons just as Noah did. However just as in the days of Noah, persons are too busy living and doing as they desire and are not interested giving their lives to God. The Apostle Paul also had moments of anxiety as he cautioned the Church in Acts 20:31  " Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears .     There are tears of sacrifice   Tears of sacrifice are shed by God’s children who suffer personal loss to the end that: the Church may go forward and the gospel may be preached in those regions where it has never been heard. Sacrifice is only acceptable when the offeror is living in obedience to the will of God. If you are willing to offer your life to the Lord as you pour out yourself to the Lord tears will flow. In this you are not alone many have had and  are having similar experiences. Jesus wept in the Garden of Gethsemane before He was betrayed by Judas and His followers also shed tears as they sacrificed their entire being to the Lord. Apostle Paul recounted his experiences as we read in Acts 20:18-19-  And when they had come to him, he said to them: "Ye know, from the first day that I came to Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons, serving the Lord with all humility of mind and with many tears and temptations which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews.   If you are going through trying times hold on to Christ seek comfort from the Scriptures Psalm 126:5 reminds us that those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. God knows and cares when we shed a tear. Do not despair, always remember that sorrow is temporary: Psalm 30:5 reminds us  weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.    Finally, the best of all -if we are true to God, our Heavenly Father, with a tender hand, “ shall wipe away every tear from our eyes.”   Yes, there are many kinds of tears but if we accept salvation through Jesus Christ and live in obedience to the will of God when Jesus shall put an end to sin and death and hand over to His Father there shall be no shedding of tears in that Eternal City. • THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

Taking a brief look at the Ten Commandments.   The most powerful doctrine in the Bible is that of the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments are different from the laws written by Moses. The laws written by Moses were written in a book and placed in the side of the Ark of the Covenant while the Ten Commandments were written by God on tables of stone and were placed inside the Ark of the Covenant. Please read Deut. 31: 9 - 26, Exod.24:12; 32: 15-19; Deut. 10:1-5 to get a better understanding about the origination and differences between these two laws.   The Ten Commandments are also called The Law of Liberty, The Royal Law and The Moral Laws . From these laws of God, we get knowledge of sin. Romans 3:20 tells us that by the law is the knowledge of sin. In Psalm 119:142, 172 we are told that the Commandments are righteousness and truth. Psalm 111: 7-8 tells us that God’s laws will live forever and ever. James 2:10 reminds us that if we offend in one point, we are guilty of all.   The Moral Laws were instituted by God as way marks and guidelines for Believers. If we obey them we are assured of immortality. The Law of the Ordinances was added because of man’s disobedience to God’s Ten Commandments. The Law of the Ordinances was inclusive of animal sacrifices. Jesus, the Lamb of God became the sacrifice when He died on the cross. He became our High Priest; therefore, we have no need of an earthly priest to make sacrifices for us.   We will examine a few Scriptures which should help us to understand the importance of obeying God’s Ten Commandments.   The Moral Law/ Ten Commandments   It is called the Royal Law. James 2:8 - If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well : It was written by God. Deut. 4:12-13 -  And the Lord spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice. 13 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone .   It was written with the finger of God. Exod. 31:18 - And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.  It is perfect and converts the soul. Psalm19:7- The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.  It is pure. Psalm 19:8 - The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. It is holy, just and good. Romans 7:12-     Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. It is spiritual. Romans 7:14-     For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. Those who keep them will get eternal life. Rev. 22:14-   Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.  Christ magnifies it. Matt. 5: 17-19 -   Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.   The Lord magnifies it and makes it honourable.  Isaiah 42:21-   T he Lord is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.  If you break one you are guilty of all. James 2:10 -     For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. It is a light and a lamp. Proverbs 6 :23-  For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life It can be sectioned as love to God and love to man. Matt. 22 : 37-40 - Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.   We keep them if we love God. John 14:15-   If ye love Me, keep My commandments 1st John 5:2 - By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep His commandments. They are not grievous (burdensome) 1st John 5:3 -   For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and His commandments are not grievous.   It was placed in the Ark. Exod. 40:20; - And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark: Hebrews 9:4- Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; It abides forever. Psa. 111:7-8 - The works of His hands are verity and judgment; all His commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.   We are advised to fear God and keep His Commandments. Ecclesiastes 12:13 - Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.   Some believe that the Ten Commandments of God are obsolete but be reminded that Rev. 12:17 tells us that Satan is angry with the people of God who keep God’s Commandments and who have the testimony of Jesus.   Rev. 22:14 reminds us that those who keep God’s Commandments will enter into the City of God. Obedience in serving God means keeping all Ten Commandments. These Commandments are from the creation of this world and can be read from Genesis to Revelation.   I invite you to align a few New Testament Scriptures with the Commandments as listed in Exodus 20.   1 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Exodus 20:3; Matthew 4:10   2 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them nor serve them; for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me and keep My commandments.   1st John 5:21; Acts17:16-25; 1st Corinthians 8:4-6; 6:9; Exodus 20:4-6   3 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain. Matthew 5:33-37; 6:9; 23:16-22; Exodus 20:7   4 Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work; but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates. For in six days the Lord made the heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. Exodus 20:8-11; Acts 13:42,44; Luke 4:16; Hebrews 10:25; Matthew 12:8; Revelation 1:10   5 Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. Exodus 20:12; Mark 7:9-13; Colossians 3:20; Ephesians 6:1-3; Mark 10;19   6 Thou shalt not kill. Luke 18:20; Mark 10:19; Romans 13:9; James 2:11; Exodus 20:13   7 Thou shalt not commit adultery. Romans 13:9; James 2:11; Mark 10:4-2,19, 1st Corinthians 6:9; Exodus 20:14 8  Thou shalt not steal. Exodus 20:15; Romans 13:9; Mark 10:19; Luke 18:20; Ephesians 4:28 9  Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Romans 13:9 Mark 10:19; Ephesians 4:29, 31, Exodus 20:16 10  Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant. Nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbour’s. Romans 13:9; Exodus 20:17; Hebrews 13:5; James 4:1-2; Romans 7:7   What does the Ten Commandments teach us? The first Commandment reminds us that we should only worship the True and Living God. If we worship otherwise, it is idolatry. Jesus told Satan in Matthew 4:10, ‘thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only shalt thou serve. If we love God, we will serve Him in spirit and in truth.   The second tells us not to make and worship images. We must not bow down and show reverence to images; this includes the cross. When we do this, we are not honouring God we are denouncing Him. This is idolatry. Those who do not worship images will be rewarded with His mercy but if we worship images, we will leave a sinful legacy for our children and will not inherit everlasting life.   The third Commandment tells us not to take God’s name in vain. We must reverence His name. Our society is guilty of this practise; we defame God’s name for the simplest thing. If you listen you often hear expletives alongside God’s name, songs which are not in tune with godliness incorporates God’s name. This is totally unacceptable. God’s name is to be held in awe and reverence. If this is your habit, please stop now, before God’s wrath is turned on you.   In the fourth Commandment we are told to remember God’s Sabbath. From creation the Sabbath has been kept but God knew that false teachers would arise therefore He told us to Remember the Sabbath day  to keep it holy. When we keep the Sabbath, we remember God as Creator of heaven and earth. We recognise His sovereignty. Man does not have the power to change God’s time and select any day as the Sabbath. We should follow God’s guidelines. We must put aside all cares and toils and worship God on the day that He has especially set aside for holy communion with God.   The 5th Commandments tells us to “Honour our father and our mother that our days may be long upon the land which the Lord our God hath given us.”  It doesn’t matter how the child was reared or the behaviour of the parent the child must honour the parent. As a matter of fact, the child should be respectful to all and should be given due respect. If we want to live and be blessed by God, we must honour our parents.   The sixth Commandment says, Thou shalt not kill. No unrepentant murderer will enter eternal life. Jesus said if we keep hate in our hearts we are murderers. Therefore, a murderer is not only the one who takes out a life by a gun, knife etc. A murderer is also one who defames person’s character and cuts the throat with the tongue.   The 7th points to adultery; It says Thou shalt not commit adultery. Jesus said that if one looks at another who is not the spouse and lust after him/her that person has already committed adultery in his/her heart. Marriage is a lasting covenant between God and the couple. Married partners must be faithful to each other and outsiders must not interfere with their relationship. Under the Mosaic law persons who committed adultery were instantly stoned to death. You might not be put to death now, but remember that God still detest adulterous  behaviour.   The 8th Commandment tells us not to steal. It is a crime to take something which does not belong to you. Stealing is not only taking tangible things such as money, and car. People’s happiness is stolen when their loved ones are raped or murdered, or when marriages are broken because of unfaithfulness and varied other ways. Time can also be stolen in various ways.   The ninth Commandment tells us not to lie. Many persons love to suss and while gossiping they run out of facts, therefore, they tell lies. Lies are even told while persons are under oath in the courthouse. Bearing false witness has gotten many innocent people in trouble. Speak the truth always. If you’re a liar your father is the Devil John 8:44  Most problems begin with coveting others. The 10th Commandment tells us not to covet anyone’s property. Satan coveted God’s position and raised an insurrection in heaven. That is why he is here on earth creating havoc and working assiduously to prevent us from inheriting eternal life with Christ. Covetousness began with him and will end when God destroys him and his demons.   God expect us to obey His laws. We were created for such purpose. If you are not walking in total obedience to God’s Commandments, submit yourself to Him and ask for His forgiveness. Whatever changes are to be made in your life allow God’s grace to guide you through all situations. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 says ‘ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter fear God and keep His Commandments for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgement with every secret thing whether it be good or whether it be evil. ’      Writer - A. E. • SUNDAY-MONDAY-TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY-FRIDAY-SABBATH

REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY TO KEEP IT HOLY   In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth Gen.1:1. The act of creation was completed in six days. On the sixth day, God created man in His own likeness and His image. God created man a little lower than the angels. (Psalm 8:5). Man was given dominion over the fish of the sea, fowl of the air and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (Gen. 1:26). God desired man to worship Him so He placed in the mind of man the aptitude for worship.   Sabbath keeping originated in the Garden of Eden as stated in Gen. 2:1-3, ‘ Thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made. And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made.’   God rested from His six days of labour; not because He was tired but He wanted to institute His designated day of worship. When God wrote the Ten Commandments with His finger on the tables of stone, He included Sabbath keeping. He wanted us to know that He had given us the first six days to work and the seventh to focus on Him.   The Fourth Commandment says: Exodus 20:8-11 Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. This commandment has not been changed by God. It will endure throughout eternity. Jesus stated in Matt. 5:18,  ‘Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the Law, till all be fulfilled.’   The Beginning and Ending of the Sabbath   How can you know when a day begins or ends? Gen. 1:2,5 ‘ And the earth was without form and void: and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God called the light Day and the darkness He called Night.   The beginning of the night is evening; this also marks the beginning of a new day. The night or darkness precedes the light of the day. The beginning of the light part of day is the morning.  A day does not begin at midnight neither in the morning when it is bright a day begins at sunset each evening. A day is first darkness then light. According to the Scriptures the Lord’s Day is Sabbath. Mark 2:27-28 states, ‘ The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore, the Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath. ’   Historians record that Pope Sylvester (314-337A.D) popularised Sunday worship by naming Sunday the Lord’s Day. Sunday cannot be the Lord’s Day because Jesus said He was Lord of the seventh day, which is the Sabbath . After naming Sunday the Lord’s Day, they enforced Sunday worship through persecution of Sabbath keepers. The persecution was terrible; many were burned alive, skinned alive, thrown into hot liquids, fed to wild animals, tortured, endured thirst, hunger and homeless, pregnant mothers were torn apart and the premature babies murdered. Despite these acts of wickedness, the believers remained faithful to God’ Holy Commandments. They had rather obeyed God than follow the dictates of man. How Should the Sabbath be Kept The Sabbath is to be kept from sunset Friday evening to sunset Saturday evening. Friday is Preparation Day for the weekly Sabbath, it begins at sunset Thursday evening. On this day all food must be prepared for Sabbath. And he said unto them, This is that which the Lord hath said, Tomorrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the Lord: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning .  (Exodus 16:23) All necessary preparations must be put in place because the Sabbath was not designated for accomplishing our own agenda. All chores such as house cleaning, gardening, cooking, business transactions or activities of pleasure must not be done on the Sabbath. The Sabbath is a day of reflection, meditation and for gathering spiritual strength. While the Israelites were wandering through the wilderness, God fed them daily with manna from heaven. No manna was sent on the seventh day, Sabbath; God instructed the Israelites to gather sufficient food for the sixth and seventh day. This was the only time that manna could be stored for more than one day. If manna was stored on any other day except on Sabbath it gathered worms and became stink.   JESUS, OUR EXAMPLE Jesus is a Sabbath keeper and the Apostles whom He had left to continue the Ministry were Sabbath keepers that was why John said I WAS IN THE SPIRIT ON THE LORD'S DAY. HE KNEW THAT THE SEVENTH DAY SABBATH IS THE LORD'S DAY . Here is proof that the Apostles continued to worship on the seventh day, Sabbath and taught others to do likewise. Acts chapter 16 verse 13- And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither. Acts chapter 13 verses 14-16 - But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down. 15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on. 16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience. Acts chapter 13 verses 44-46 - And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles . Acts chapter 14 verse one - And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed. Acts chapter 17 verse 2 - And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,” The Change of the Sabbath Daniel, the prophet, predicted that a powerful force would think to change times and laws.   And he shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.  (Dan. 7:25) One way in which this satanic force tries to change God’s times and laws is by trying to change God’s day of worship from Sabbath to Sunday. The popular teaching that Jesus was resurrected on a Sunday morning has been used to cement Sunday worship. The Bible does not support a Sunday morning resurrection; it teaches us that Jesus was resurrected on a Sabbath evening. These misquoted Scriptures are used to deceive the world. Some texts which are used are: Matt. 28:1, Mark 16:1, 9; Luke 24:1; John 20: 1,19; Acts 20:7; 1st Cor. 16:1,2. These texts are used to explain that the sanctity of the Sabbath has been transferred to Sunday. This is not the true explanation for these Scriptures. These Scriptures do not confirm that God endorses Sunday worship. God showed Ezekiel how Israel had departed from His holiness and was engaged in idolatry. They were worshipping the sun. In Ezekiel chapter 8 verses 16-18   And he brought me into the inner court of the Lord's house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east. 17 Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. 18 Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them. During his reign king Josiah began destroying idolatry and sodomites out of the land. He sought to create an environment which promoted true worship . 2 Kings 23 verses 5 and 11- And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven  And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the Lord, by the chamber of Nathanmelech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire. Jeremiah chapter 8 verses 2-3 tell how God rewarded the disobedient people for their sins. At that time, saith the Lord, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves: And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth. It is no different today, God hates idolatry; He warned us not to worship any other god except Him. Why are we worshipping the sun-god? THERE ARE NO SCRIPTURES TO SUPPORT THIS WORSHIP ONLY TRADITIONS. In 321 A.D. Constantine passed the first Sunday law which stated, ‘ Let all the judges and town people, and the occupation of all trades rest on the venerable day of the sun. ’   Edict of March 7, 321 A.D. Corpus Juris Civilis Cod. Lib. 3. Tit. 12 Lex. 3 (taken from National Sunday Law, Marcussen 1999). This is supported by AI overview taken from www.google.com  on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 The Edict of March 7, 321 AD, also known as Constantine's Sunday Law, was a law that declared Sunday a day of rest in the Western Roman Empire. The law was enacted by Emperor Constantine the Great to honor the sun god, Sol Invictus.  A careful study of history reveals that the change of the seventh day to the first day of worship is a united effort of the Catholic Church and State.   During the fourth century the Council of Laodicea in Asia Minor forbade Sabbath observance and implemented Sunday observance. Canon 21, stated that Christians should not Judaize or be idle on the Sabbath but should work. However, on the Lord’s Day they should, if possible, do no work. If they are found working, they shall be anathema from Christ.   Charles Joseph Hefele. A History of the Councils of the Church vol. 2(1896 English ed.) p.316.   The Catholic Church reversed the Fourth Commandment by doing away with the Sabbath of God’s word and instituting Sunday as a holiday. ’ N. Summerbell. History of the Christian Church (1873) p.415 .  Under the Roman rulership it was unlawful to be a Christian until 313 A.D., and until approximately 400 A.D. Sunday was not an official day of worship. Satan’s plan to officially rival God’s Day led to severe persecution of the saints. The saints however were steadfast and to a great extend maintained the Gospel of Truth.   Even sections of America accepted Sunday as the designated day of worship. The first Sunday law was passed in Virginia, U.S.A. on May 25, 1610. This is referred to as the Sunday Blue Law. There were strict penalties attached to the breaking of the law. This was not new because Sabbath keepers were violently persecuted from 538 B.C –1798 a total of 1260 year. (Rev. 12:6) Written historical records tells us that Pope Innocent viii in 1487 while venting his anger against Sabbath keepers ordered that the malicious and abominable sects of malignant  if they refuse to abjure, is to be crushed like venomous snakes. This was a call to exterminate all those who refused to accept tradition instead of doctrine.   The significance of the Sabbath   The Catholic Church boasts, ‘ We observe Sunday instead of Sabbath because the Catholic Church at the Council of Laodocia transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday. The Converts’ Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, 3rd Ed. P.50.   The Catholic Press reported, ‘ Sunday is a Catholic institution and its claim to observation can be defended only on Catholic principles…...From the beginning of the Scriptures there is not a single passage that warrants the transfer of the weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first.’ adapted from National Sunday Law. Sunday is the mark of the Catholic’s authority to overrule God’s law. This is contrary to God’s plan.   God’s Seal A seal is used for legal and official purposes. It is a sign of authority. There are three components to a seal.  A) The name of the ruler B) The title which the ruler possesses C) The domain over which the ruler dominates   The ruler expects the citizens to be supportive of any document that bears the seal. The Lord expects all humans to be supportive and abide by His laws which is His seal. The seal of God is on the forehead. In the forehead can be found the portion of the brain which contains the mind or conscience. This part of the brain is called the frontal lobe. Hebrew 10:16 states, ‘ This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws in their hearts and in their minds will I write them.’   The Fourth Commandment tells us the NAME– THE LORD, HIS TITLE– THY GOD, HIS DOMAIN—THE HEAVEN AND EARTH, THE SEA AND ALL THAT IN THEM IS. Satan knows that the Fourth Commandments points to God’s authority so he desires to corrupt the truth and put in place his counterfeit. Ezekiel 20:12,20 tell us that the Sabbath is a sign between God and man . When we keep the Sabbath, it shows that there is a connection between us and God.   Some persons teach that the Sabbath is solely for the Jews. It is true that when God needed true worshippers He chose Abraham and his descendants to build a people who would propagate righteousness. The descendants of Abraham did not fulfill their calling but that did not stop God's plan for the redemption of the world. Jesus came and died for the world and the Gentiles who were idolaters were engrafted into the wonderful plan of salvation. (Romans 11)   Paul the Apostle to the Gentiles (Rom. 11:13) confirmed that Christ died for the world (Romans 5:8) Christ’s death broke down the middle wall of partition and gave us the right to call God, Father. Galatians 3: 28, tells us that t here is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.’   One day Jesus will put in His appearance and He will not judge us on man’s traditions. All who rejected the  Sabbath and any of the other nine Commandments shall be cast into damnation. Isaiah 66:23 states, ‘And it shall be that from one Sabbath to another shall all flesh come to worship before Me, saith the Lord .’  In the new earth and heaven, Sabbath keeping is a must. It is a continuation of what is practised now on earth. How can one obey then what they refuse to obey now? Those who refuse to follow the Commandments of God, speak lies in hypocrisy, having their conscience seared with a hot iron. (1st Tim. 4:2)   My friends, the explanation has been given; it is now your decision as to whom you will serve. The words of God stands sure and He changes not. Malachi 3:6 tells us, ‘For I am the Lord I change not.’   Here is a quote from Jesus, Matthew 5:17-19, ‘ Think not that I am come to destroy the Law, I am not come to destroy but to fulfil; For verily I say unto you: till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the Law till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of the least of these Commandments and shall teach men so shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.’   Take heed, let no one deceive you, as  long as you had heard you must obey or else you cannot enter the everlasting Kingdom of God. Study and ask God for understanding. It is your eternal destination that is in danger. Remember do the will of God not what is convenient to you. Please do it the Lord’s way.      Writer - A. E. • THE MOSAIC LAWS

Taking a brief look at the LAW OF THE ORDINANCES These Scriptures are referring to the Ten Commandments which is the most powerful doctrine in the Bible. 1st John 3:4 , Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.   Romans 7:7 , What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet . The Ten Commandments were written by God on tables of stone and were given to Moses to be placed inside the Ark of the Covenant. The Ark of the Covenant was a rectangular shaped box made from shittim wood and overlaid with gold. On top of it was the Mercy Seat. The laws written by Moses which are called the Laws of the Ordinances were written in a book and placed in the side of the Ark on the outside.  The Ten Commandments are different from the laws written by Moses which are called the Laws of the Ordinances. The Ten Commandments were given to every human and God expects everyone to live in total obedience to them. The Ten Commandments are also called The Law of Liberty, The Royal Law and The Moral Laws. These Laws were instituted by God as way marks and guidelines for Believers. If we obey them we are assured of everlasting life. Revelation 22:14 states, Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may  enter in through the gates into the city.    From the Laws of the Ten Commandments, we get knowledge of sin. Romans 3:20 tells us that by the law is the knowledge of sin . In Psalm 119:142 and 172 we are told that the Commandments are righteousness and truth . Psalm 111: 7-8 tells us that God’s Laws will live forever and ever . James 2:10 reminds us that   if we break one, we are guilty of all .   The Law of the Ordinances which were added because of man’s disobedience to God’s Ten Commandments  includes the laws of rituals and sacrifices. The sacrifices include animal sacrifices which were used to atone for sins. The blood of animals could not perfectly atone for the sins of humanity. Therefore, Jesus came and died on the cross so that His perfect sacrifice could atone and redeem us from our sins.   Hebrews 7:23-27 tells us about the eternal and excellent priesthood and sacrifice of Jesus. And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this Man, because He continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an High Priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for His own sins, and then for the people's: for this He did once, when He offered up Himself.   Yes, Jesus became our High Priest; therefore, we have no need of an earthly priest to make sacrifices for us. We have no further need for the blood of animals or any other sacrifice to connect us to God, our Father. You don’t have to slay the lamb anymore, You don’t have to put the blood on the door, Someone has taken the place of the lamb, Jesus the Great I am . Yes, Jesus put an end to the Laws of Ordinances which were a burden to us. Whereas 1st John 5:3 tells us, For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and his commandments are not grievous . Colossians 2:14 tells us that the Laws of the Ordinances were against us.   When Jesus was dying on the cross the curtain in the Temple which separated Holy Place (the Sanctuary) from the Most Holy (the part of the Sanctuary where atonement was made annually) was torn in two. For the first time every eye could behold what was behind the curtain. Matthew 27: 51 says , And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent. Animal blood could no longer atone for sins.   Let us examine a few Scriptures which will educate us about the Laws of the Ordinances.   God wrote the Ten Commandments twice, the first time He hewed the stone Himself and wrote on it. When it was broken by Moses, He told Moses to hew the stones and take it to Him. Deuteronomy 10:1-5 At that time the Lord said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto Me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood. And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark. And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand. And He wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the Ten Commandments, which the Lord spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the Lord gave them unto me. And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the Lord commanded me.   Moses wrote the Laws of the Covenant as He was inspired or told by God. Deuteronomy 31;9-11,24-26, And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and unto all the elders of Israel. And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the Feast of Tabernacles, When all Israel is come to appear before the Lord thy God in the place which He shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing. And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord, saying, Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.   What is Said About The Laws of the Ordinances?   Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace; Ephesians 2:15   Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross; Colossians 2:14   And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the Lord, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen . 2nd Chronicles 35:12   Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Galatians 3:13   Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of  transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true . Galatians 3:19   And He said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning Me . Luke 24:44   If a man on the Sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? J ohn 7:23   Galatians 3:24-25 - Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.   John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.   Yes, some of the laws which Moses wrote in a book were oppressive and strict. It was so restrictive that it did not show the awesome love and mercy of God. Jesus came and tore away this bondage and gave us freedom. We are now able to enjoy the peace and joy that comes from knowing Christ.   Christ did not come to put an end to the Moral Laws; He came to put an end to the laws which did not give true spiritual freedom. Many are confused and are unable to differentiate between the Ten Commandments and the Laws of the Ordinances. They believe that both are the same and Jesus had put them aside and there is no need to obey any of them especially the weekly Sabbath. This is a great deception because God expects us to show our love and obedience to Him by obeying the Ten Commandments.   Man says Jesus put aside the Laws of God but Jesus said , For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.   The Ten Commandments are binding but the Laws of the Ordinances which had the people in bondage were done away with through Jesus Christ. If you believe this and live in obedience then you shall obtain life everlasting but if you know the truth and reject it you shall be dammed .    Writer - A. E. • A MESSAGE FROM HOSEA 4:6-11

HOSEA WAS SPEC1ALLY CALLED BY GOD TO LIVE A LIFE AND MAKE CHOICES THAT WAS THEN RELATABLE TO THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ISRAEL AND GOD. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to Me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. 7 As they were increased, so they sinned against Me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. 8 They eat up the sin of My people, and they set their heart on their iniquity. 9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings. 10 For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the Lord. 11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.   God has a unilateral covenant with Israel which is still in effect although throughout the years as a nation they have not been faithful to God. This covenant is an example of the boundless love of God. This agreement is not saying that God disregards sin; no, it is a sign of God’s mercy. There is a penalty for sin and everyone including Israel must pay the penalty for our sinful choices. The tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh represented Joseph. The message of Hosea was specifically to Ephraim as a group of tribes. This group comprised of: Asher, Naphtali, Simeon, Ephraim, Zebulun, Manasseh, Issachar, Reuben, Dan and Gad.  These tribes are called the Ten Tribes, Israel or Ephraim and were extremely disobedient to God. The Levites were the priestly tribe and unlike the other tribes which had specific location as their inheritance the Levites’ inheritance was among all tribes. This was God’s plan because it was their responsibility to keep the people focused on Jehovah. They failed in their responsibility as many of them stood in solidarity with the disobedient Israelites. When the Assyrians captured the Ten Tribes, Levites among them were also taken. The other tribes -Benjamin, Judah and a portion of the Levites were called Judah. They were not very obedient but had behaved a little better than the others. God was displeased with them and they were oppressed by nations the most dominant were the Babylonians. When Judah fell into sin and the Babylonians captured them the Levites among them were also taken. This message from Hosea 4:6-11 is very important, in it the Lord was addressing the wilful ignorance and rebellion of Israel. There is a difference between not knowing and being wilfully ignorant. When one is wilfully ignorant it means you are openly rebellious against God. God said through the prophet Hosea, “ My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge because they have rejected knowledge and because they have rejected knowledge, He will also reject them .” God had told Israel that He had called them as a special people to be priest for Him and to spread His word and also to work in His vineyard. He further stated that they had rejected the knowledge of the truth so He will also reject them as workers in His vineyard. That was what He meant when He said that they would be no more priest to Him. He said so because they had not only forgotten about the simple rules and regulations that are guidelines but they had rejected His Laws. Yes, they had put aside the Laws that God had given to them and have taken upon themselves something else which is not of God. In doing so they still believe they were doing the will of God and would be allowed to enter the Kingdom of God. We learn from 1st John 3:4- Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.    The Lord said, “ I will also forget thy children” Why would He say that? It is the parents’ responsibility to live in righteousness according to God’s word so that they can leave a legacy of blessings for their offspring.   The statement “ I will also forget thy children”  does not mean that God will reject the offspring of the disobedient; God is a merciful and forgiving God and would leave them in the cold. God pointed out that the more He had blessed the Ten Tribes was the more they multiplied. The more they multiplied numerically the more they increased in materialism, in power and status and in sinning against Him. So, it is with many persons the more God opens door for them, the more ungrateful and evil-hearted they become in the presence of God.   The Lord determined that because they have increased in sin against Him, He was going to turn their glory into shame and all that He had given to them He would allow to become weapons of obstruction to them. When God blesses us, when God open doors for us, when He flies open the windows, we are to be grateful to God. The main way we show that we are grateful is by being obedient to the will of God and to live according to His precepts. However, many times when God opens doors for us, we believe we have opened our own doors and windows. We forgot where the blessings came from.   The Scriptures also tell us, they eat up the sins of My people, they set their hearts in iniquity .  When persons are iniquitous they are set in committing evil and will not readily turn from their evil ways. They partake in evil as they eat food, they generate evil thoughts which flows like water. Their actions are iniquitous because they are consistent and persistent in evil and not in good. In verse 9 God was saying that the people were like the priests there was no difference between the pulpit and the floor. The priest comes from among the people, so if the people are consistently evil you have to examine the behaviour of the leaders. At that time most were saying and doing the same evils. Being evil, they call evil good, they call unrighteousness, righteousness and they believe they were still a special holy people to God. Leaders have a great responsibility and must be consistent in applying righteous discipline. By doing this there will be saintly people among the disobedient.  There are many persons who believe that they are going to enter the Kingdom of God because of affiliation of one sort or the other, but affiliation cannot guarantee entrance into the Kingdom of God. Earthly affiliation cannot guarantee entrance into the Kingdom of God. What guarantees entrance is a solid knowledge of the word of God, abiding by the word of God, living in obedience to the will of God and being committed to God. Outside of that one cannot enter the Kingdom of God. We cannot hold the truth in unrighteousness, we cannot know and refuse from doing, we have to do that which we know to be truth.   The word of God says, “ I will punish them for their ways and reward them for their doings .” They are not going to escape, said the Lord. I will punish them for their ways and reward them for their doing. Just as how God will reward you for good so He will reward you for bad. Some people on their deathbeds confess. They give a testimony, of good or evil. When they are confessing their evil deeds, kins and friends begin to seek and apply ways to stop them from bringing further disgrace upon the family. When a child of God is going home, you want the whole world to know that you are going. You leave a wonderful testimony talking about God’s wonderful salvation plan; His glorious promises and the blessings which awaits you.   Verse ten tells us, “ for they shall eat and not have enough . ” Just as Israel endured famine because of their willful disobedience so will we have famines in this world. There are famines for the genuine word of God and literal food, right know. Today the people of God, the Jews are in famine because the word of God says, “ blindness impart as happened to them until the time of the Gentiles be fulfilled .” (Romans 11:25) The word of God is fulfilled upon them spiritually and physically; they went through physical famines and biblical and historical records tell us that they had to eat every kind of unnatural and unclean things. They also had to drink their urine, they went through all of that because of sin. The very people whom God had told that when they passed your faeces, they should make sure to have a paddle so that they can dig a hole to bury it because He, God, did not want to pass and see it. Leviticus 23 verses 13-14 - And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee: 14 For the Lord thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that He see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee. This very same people turned to eat their own faeces; that is what sin does.   The word of God says they shall come with whoredom. Whoredom here refers to spiritual whoredom and physical whoredom. They committed whoredom because they had departed from God. Today in the spiritual realm or places of worship, a lot of whoredom is taking place, because people are deviating from the word of God.   God told Hosea to tell them that they shall not increase because they do not want to hear the word of God. Contentment had filled their heart; they are self- fulfilled. This is similar to behaviours today. God said, listen to Me, I will punish you. He will punish us for the wine of falsehood which we are enjoying and the whoredoms that we engage in. Apostasy is at an all -time high at this time and it will not decrease until Jesus returns and destroy evil. this is no excuse for us to follow evil practices we must abstain from all form of evil and escape the wrath of God.   There is only one way to the Kingdom of God, and it tells us to seek and ask and when you have found that One Way we ought to walk in it. Some people may call you a fanatic, some will say you have a strange doctrine. Do not let that hinder you from doing the right. Follow the inspired word of God. The word of God tells us to walk in His way and live righteously. May God help us to do so.     Writer - A. E. • SPEAKING IN TONGUES

Speaking in tongues - Speaking in languages.   It is only one of several gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is God who decides which gift one will receive; not everyone will receive the gift of speaking in tongues. 1 Corinthians 12 verses 4-6: Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. There is much concern about the practise of tongues speaking and the teachings on this topic are diverse. Here are a few teachings on the topic: (1) Some Christians who speak in tongues believe they are speaking in an existing language. (2) Some believe they are uttering a heavenly tongue. (3) Some denominations, teach that speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. (4) Some believe that speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit and must be interpreted by an interpreter. (5) Some believe that speaking in tongues is a sign that you are saved . What is the truth?   2nd Timothy 3:16 tells us that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God . This means that the Bible is the inspired word of God. We need to tap into the wisdom recorded in the Scriptures and know what the Bible says about any topic. 2nd Timothy 2:15 encourages us to, “ Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth . ” Psalm 119:105 reminds us that the word of God is a light. It reads, “ Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. It is important that everyone has a good understanding of the word of God because it is what guides us in doing the right. John 8:32 says, “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”     What is the definition of tongues?  Scripturally tongues mean languages. According to the Strong Concordance the Greek translation for tongue is glōssa. The word glossolalia" is the most commonly accepted term for speaking in tongues. It comes from the Greek words meaning "tongues" or "languages," and "to speak."   Are there different types of tongues? The Scriptures tell us about two types of tongues - known and unknown tongues. On the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Ghost anointed the followers of Christ they spoke in known languages. Acts 2:1̵4,7,8,11,12 tell us what happened at the first outpouring of the Holy Ghost.   And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.   And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?   There are three records of speaking in tongues in the Scriptures and each served a purpose. The occurrence of Acts chapter 2 was for the spreading of the Gospel of Salvation, Acts chapter 10 teaches that the Gentiles were included in God's plan of salvation and Acts chapter 19 teaches us that correct baptism is linked to the reception of the Holy Spirit. On the day of Pentecost the setting was public teaching but the two other instances were among brethren.   In the Book of First Corinthians, we learn about an unknown language. 1st Corinthians 14:2 –6, 13,14, 27,28 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the Church.  I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the Church may receive edifying. Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.  If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.   It is good manners not to speak when others are speaking and when in the company of others not to speak what they cannot understand. Therefore, in places of worship it’s bad manners when there is confusion because many persons are speaking at the same time and are also speaking what others cannot understand. This is not godliness. Let us follow the biblical guidelines. There ought to be one who possesses the gift of interpretation who will give the required interpretation.   How do you get the Gift of Tongues? At the end of Christ’s Ministry on earth He promised to send His followers His power. He said, But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.  In Acts chapter 19 we read about brethren who had not receive the Holy Spirit.  And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after Him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 7 And all the men were about twelve. Based on the preceding Scripture we understand the importance of being properly baptised. After their proper baptism they received the Holy Spirit and as a sign that they were now on the right path they received the outward sign of speaking in languages just as on the day of Pentecost.   Paul told the Corinthians in 1st Corinthians 12: 4 -11 , Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.  And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.   1st Corinthians 12:28-30 tell us , God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?”    From this we can understand that only some will receive the gift to speak in tongues, just as only some are called to be teachers, or any other such office.   Tongues are for Sign Mark 16:15 - 18, And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.   If speaking in tongues is a constant sign that one has received the Holy Spirit then one can always toy with venomous snakes or drink poison as water and nothing will happen to them. It will also be that those for whom prayer is offered will be healed, therefore there should be no more sickness or death. On this basis speaking in tongues is not the only sign of an infilling of the Holy Spirit.   Speaking in tongues is not the constant sign of baptism of the Holy Spirit because there are numerous records in Acts of true conversion and Spirit-baptism where no tongues are mentioned namely Acts 2:37-42; 8:26-40; 9:1-19; 13:44-52; 16:11-15; 16:25-34; 17:1-10a; 17:10b-15; 17:16-33; 18:1-11; 18:24-28.   1st Corinthians 14: 22,  “Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.”   What is said about the manifestation of tongues? We are advised from 1st Corinthians 14:40 to   let all things be done decently and in order.      Writer - A. E. • FAMILY LIFE Marriage is a Spiritual and a Civil Contract

Most persons demonstrate a very strong desire to be married and each person desiring marriage may express a different idea of the meaning of marriage. It is very important for everyone to have a good understanding of marriage and what is expected from us in a marriage before we enter into a marriage.   What is marriage? Marriage in its true essence is a God directed covenant between a biologically born woman and a biologically born man. It is a covenant which is both civil and spiritual. The civil covenant is based on the laws of the location in which the marriage is taking place. The spirituality is based on God’s precepts because it was, He who first instituted marriage. Thus, the spiritual covenant remains the same regardless of locality. What are the purposes of marriage? God designed the friendship bond called marriage to fulfil several purposes. The purposes which are essential in marriage are inclusive of companionship, procreation and relationship. genesis 1 verse 27 - So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. Genesis 2 verse 24 - Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Genesis 1 verse 28 - And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: What is companionship ? Although marriage is a sexual union, companionship is the friendship aspect of the marriage. It is a relationship in which both parties support each other emotionally; marriage is not centred on fulfilling sexual interest. It allows both partners to rely on each other for comfort and support. It is very depressing when one has to share his/her life with someone who is not a friend or offers mutual companionship. What is procreation? The first task God gave humans in marriage was that of producing offspring through sexual intercourse. Without procreation the human species would not exist. Procreation should be done with great responsibility because spouses must be mindful of how they will satisfy the normal needs of the children. This does not give us the licence to terminate the life of an unborn child, what it teaches us is responsibility. Sexual intercourse is not a casual fling it is one of the most important action that one can engage in. Thus, one must place a high value on his/her body and not give it just to satisfy carnal whims and fancies. What is relationship in mar riage?   What are you actually seeking in a marriage? Why do you want to get married? Are you prepared to give and receive? Are you getting entangled with someone for a lifetime or just for as long as the pleasure lasts?  A marriage is not a smooth road without pitfalls and edges; it has no place for bitterness and grudges. A marriage gives partners the opportunity to have a beautiful bond with God at the centre. The Scriptures are their guide and the Holy Spirit supplies the inspiration for continuation in righteousness. The family is built on the principles as set by our Creator and the members model the love of God. Great marital relationship is rooted in obedience to God, love, forgiveness, care, compassion and healing. What is marriage according to society?  In the past society’s concept of marriage was a union between a male and a female, today’s marriage practices have taken a down turn; moving from godly tenets to human atrocities. A society’s concept of marriage differs according to culture or location and sometimes the basic concept is a union between two or more persons. It is to be regretted that on a whole society’s concept of marriage is often opposite to the Lord’s. Types of marriage – Based on society’s concept of marriage there have been many changes to married life. Some types of marriage are: Polygamy – we focus on two types of polygamy, polygyny – married more than one wife, polyandry- women married to more than one man and group marriage – which is a group of women marries a group of men. All of them have common wives and husbands. Monogamy- is a marriage with only two individuals. God’s standard is one biologically born woman and a biologically born man. What is marriage according to the word of God? According to the word of God, marriage is a relationship which is synonymous to the relationship between Christ and the Church. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the Church: and He is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church, and gave Himself for it; 26 That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That He might present it to Himself a glorious Church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the Church: 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the Church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.   Pillars of marriage   Marriage is a structure which must be properly built on the Sure Foundation and possess pillars to ensure strength and stability. The pillars are principles of godliness as outlined in the Scriptures. The permanency of the marriage union is dependent on the type of material used in its foundation and construction. These are a few pillars on which a properly structured marriage must be built: love, understanding , r espect, compassion, forgiveness, endorsement and acceptance. There are different types of love and many will marry because of love, infatuation or convenience but their expressed emotion lacks the essential pillars. Such union will be temporary because it cannot stand without the pillars. Yes, it is important that each partner love the other but it is most important that each partner respect the other. Respect will not allow abuse or misuse. When partners endorse each other, it means that they are faithful and confident in the relationship. They fully support each other positively and easily complement and care for each other. None is afraid of the storms which may blow because each is not only assured of human support but is assured that God is the Anchor. Some spouses keep looking over the fence trying to find greener pastures. Some spouses are focusing on outer beauty and as the years pass become unwilling to accept the spouse who in the eyes of the other has lost his or her attractiveness. When entering marriage, you are entering a lifetime commitment and many changes including physical changes will occur during this time. You must be willing to adjust to support your spouse. None is perfect therefore when challenges arise each should assist the other over the hurdles and the affected party should be willing to do everything godly that will help in solving the challenges or to make living more comfortable. This is not telling anyone to remain in a situation where your life is at risk. In such situation you can assist from a distance. Spouses should work with each other to get the best out of the other. Do not want the other to make sacrifices which you would not make; fairness is paramount. Marriage is for better or worse therefore, before entering marriage one must understand the implications of the profound statements: for better or for worse and until death do us part.  Functions of marriage The functions of marriage may differ based on ones’ perspective. However, we could summarise the varied functions. Marriage satisfies many human needs that is why despite its sharp edges, persons are willing to be bonded in marriage. Marriage gives room for sexual satisfaction and offers the opportunity for exploration and experiment within the bounds of righteousness. Seeking for pleasure should not lead one into uncleanness because unrighteous sexual practises but the fulfilment of sexual needs must be done according to guidelines offered in the Scriptures. Every human is a sexual being and there are different ways in which one may find pleasure. Marriage gives the scope for one to obtain a better understanding of human physiology and psychology. Marriage should also answer to the spouse’s financial, emotional, social and religious. That is why before agreeing to a marriage proposal one should consider his or her reasonable needs and also consider if these needs will be met and if not how will you cope with the unfulfilled needs. It is impossible for any human to satisfy all the desires of another so no one should be pressured to always satisfy the whims and fantasies of another. Be understanding and act wisely. Marriage requires contentment and understanding. Selfishness can never be housed in a marriage. Remember that what is good for the goose is good for the gander. What if the one making the unreasonable demand is the one facing the demand? The word of God tells us the following in 2nd Corinthians 6:14-18, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 17  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. 18  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Marriage satisfies spiritual or religious functions therefore the partners should hold the same religious beliefs. What is to be expected from each partner according to society? Societal expectations will differ based on culture. In this present world where depravity is getting excessive, societal morals and values are being eroded. What was a terrible act yesterday is deemed good today. Therefore, moral values are compromised and this is often accepted. What is to be expected from each partner according to the Bible ? The Bible clearly outlines what is expected from the social and religious institution of marriage. Partners must work to support and continually repair the breaches which may occur from time to time. They must be committed to God and to the union, respectful, faithfulness, loving and compassionate. Partners should support each other in prayer. Their home should be a place that houses the presence of God. What are the consequences for those who do not follow biblical guidelines? Even if the marriage seems to be stable if Christ is not at the centre, it is not truly stable and prosperous. Without Him there are varied destructive storms which will affect the union. This union without a Sure Foundation is liable to collapse at any time. Our human effort is incapable of holding or building a marital union such as God desires that is why so many marriages are crumbling and homes and hearts destroyed. How can you repair a sick marriage? We thank God that He is a Life Saver and a Rescuer. Partners should confess their faults to each other and ask for forgiveness then they go to the Lord in prayer and supplication. He can repair the breach. Do not put your confidence in human’s ideologies and spend much money seeking a solution. Go to God together in penitence and He will do whatever is necessary to make the union what He knows it ought to be. do not allow pride or ego to sabotage your marriage neither let your selfish desires do so. stand united against the dark clouds and you will be rewarded by the inflowing light from Christ. I pray that everyone will seek guidance from God before and after engaging in this sacred institution. A Christ approved marriage will produce a family set on godly principles thus creating a better society.      Writer - A. E. The Dangers of Spiritual Abuse I am addressing this topic from a biblical perspective because first and foremost I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I believe that the Scriptures are our guide to understanding the purpose God has for us. Have you considered how we, the people, created by God to serve Him are rejecting Him and the precepts He has laid for us to follow? . The word abuse seems to be the word most often used by any age group. As a matter of fact, we have several categories of abuse e.g. abuse of physical health, environmental, child abuse, discriminatory abuse, financial abuse or material abuse, modern slavery, neglect of a child, organizational or institutional abuse, psychological or emotional abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse and domestic violence. It seems as if the world in general is a very abusive place. What really causes abuse? Abuse stems from sin. What is sin? 1st John 3 verse 4 tells us, Whosoever, committeth sin transgresseth also the Law; for sin is the transgression of the Law . This Law is referring to the Laws of God not to the laws of man because mankind has formulated some of their laws from the Laws of God.  Let us now reason. Since abuse comes from sin and sin is wrong doing how can we stop abuse? The the only way we can get away from being abusive and from being an abuser is by moving away from sin and the turning to God. This is possible if we heed the warning given in 2nd Chronicles 7 verse14 , If My people which are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.  This was what the God of Heaven told Solomon and the same message is applicable to us today. Proverbs 14 verse 34 tells us, righteousness shall exalt a nation but sin is a reproach to any people. The opposite of sin is righteousness therefore if any individual, community, nation or the entire world population turn away from sin then righteousness will replace sinfulness.    Is there a difference between being morally correct and being righteous? Being moral means following ethical standards and being a good person in the eyes of others. In our human eyes we believe that we can be morally correct or morally right and that equates to righteousness. Being morally correct and morally right cannot equate to righteousness. What is righteousness? It is living by action. It is doing right and living in accordance to the will of God. A moral person is not necessarily one whose life is in accordance to the will of God but can be acknowledged as an upright citizen. A righteous person obeys God in all things.   This brings me to the point of spiritual abuse. What exactly is spiritual abuse? I will answer according to the understanding I get from the Scriptures. God has a magnificent plan for our salvation; a plan for our transformation. He sent His Only Begotten Son to die for us so that we can be redeemed and justified and returned to the fold of God. Regrettably, many of us have refused God's offer we have carved out for ourselves cisterns which can hold no water. Jeremiah 2:12-13 says, “ Be   astonished o ye heavens, at this and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the Lord. For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the Fountain of Living Waters and have hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water .” This verse is telling us that the created have placed themselves above the Creator. Isaiah 5 verse 20 warns, Woe to them that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for light and light for darkness, that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to them that are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight.     Yes, we have departed from God and His word and have created for ourselves our own avenues of righteousness. It would be wonderful if we could all be evangelists like the woman at the well in Samaria. When she met Jesus, she was not upset that Jesus had pointed out her sins instead she ran excitedly and called out to everyone she met, “ come see a Man . ” How are we behaving today? We can agree that instead of running to say come see a Man, many are running away from the Man. It is sad but many are abusing the opportunity for salvation. Many are rejecting what God has given and are creating their own beliefs and standards.   Psalm 53 verse 1 tells us, “ The fool hath said in his heart there is no God, corrupt are they and have done abominable iniquity; there is none that doeth good . T his verse tells us clearly who is a fool. A fool is anyone who denies the existence of the One Supreme Being called Almighty God. The opposite of fool is wise, therefore everyone who recognises and bows to the supremacy of Almighty God is a wise person. You can be well educated and yet be a fool and you may be under-educated and yet be a wise person. Biblically it is not your academic level that determines your level of spiritual wisdom but your recognition of God and godly things.   It is surprising how many persons desire to enter God’s Kingdom yet refuse to acknowledge His laws, statutes and precepts. Many do not even believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died and was resurrected after three days and three nights and after remaining on the earth for forty days He ascended into heaven. Presently He is seated beside His Father as our Mediator. Many believe that there are other paths to everlasting life while the Scriptures tell us that there's no other name on the Heaven and Earth whereby man can be saved except the name of Jesus. Some do not even believe that there will be a resurrection and a judgement. Revelation 20 verse 8 tells us, For the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.    Notice the groups listed: fearful – those who are afraid of everything but not afraid of the wrath of God, unbelieving – those who believe whatever suits or satisfies their carnal desires but refuse to accept the undiluted word of God, abominable -those who are committing abominations by going against everything that is holy this includes renouncing gender, changing your God given identity and corrupting the institution of marriage, murderers – when God said do not kill He was not speaking about unintentional killings. He was referring to intentional murders that people commit with the tongue, by actions and with tools. Today we murder the unborn and believe we have a right to make such decision. Whoremongers – refers to every form of sexual immorality, same sex relationships, sexual relationships outside of the sanctity of marriage, divorce and remarriage while the first partner is alive and every other forms of sexual sin. Sorcerers – this group is to be found in many places of worship. They are steadily moving out of obscurity and getting into plain sight. Like Jannes and Jambres the Egyptian magicians they are competing against God while claiming to be labouring for Him. Idolaters claim to be worshippers of the One True God but God does not know them. Liars – the father of lies is the devil so every liar is his child.   Why are we abusing our spiritual freedom by rejecting the blessings of salvation that God has extended to us? Why are we refusing to worship the God of Heaven? Worshipping Almighty God is steadily becoming a taboo. Yes, the act of devotion which is the act of worshipping God in reverence is being swiftly taken out of public gatherings especially schools. The institutions which have the responsibility of moulding the young are carrying out their responsibilities by using the philosophies and ideologies of sinful humans and have laid aside the perfect God given standards. Instead of having a devotion there is an invocation. What is the difference between devotion and invocation? The meaning of devotion is to be unwavering, enthusiastic and the observance of a godly lifestyle while the meaning of invocation is to invoke someone or something.   These two words are sufficient to open our eyes so that we can recognise how far we have wandered from the path of good. We have corrupted and are corrupting what God has set in place to bring us into union with Him. Isaiah 5:20 warns us, “ Woe to them that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for light and light for darkness, that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter . By engaging in an invocation, we are opening ourselves to be inhabited by unclean spirits. Yes, it’s true because the Spirit of God cannot be invoked; only unclean spirits can be invoked. During a devotional exercise you can sing songs of worship and adoration such as Immortal invisible God only wise in lighting accessible it from His eyes Most Blessed most glorious the Ancient of Days Almighty Victorious His name we praise. In invocation your activities can vary because you are actually invoking a spirit or spirits so you may sit in silence; you may jump or whatever else is necessary but there is not that sanctity that is linked to the Most High God. There is much talk about abuse of children even by those who engage in child abuse. What exactly is abuse of children from a Biblical standpoint? The word of God tells us to train up a child in the way he should go and when he's old he will not depart from it. As a Christian nation how many children are been trained to worship the God of Heaven, read and understand the Bible and are trained in biblical principles. Those who are worldly wise will say that such is not necessary today because we are living in a modern world. I now ask you a question and please think carefully before answering. We are experiencing a high level of criminal activities globally; wouldn’t you say that the chief contributing factor is a lack of godliness; a rejection of God’s principles for the building of a nation and a family? We are closing down places of worship, building more prisons and trying to improve our judiciary systems. Isn’t this child abuse when a child who was allowed to do whatever he or she desires instead of being guided by knowledgeable adults who have a good understanding of their God given responsibilities is later penalized. I shudder to even think what will happen in the next ten years when these misguided children become adults. May God help us. Children are immature and often are incapable of making life changing decisions. It is child neglect and abuse to allow a child to make life changing decisions without proper guidance. Every parent is entrusted with the child that God has given and each must individually give an account of his/her stewardship. In an effort to make proper decisions parents should focus on Psalm 119 verses 11 and 105 which say, Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee. Thy word is a lamp unto me feet and a light unto my path . We ought to study the word of God. Only by doing so can we understand what is the will of God. Psalm 135 and verse 5 says, For I know that the Lord is great and that our Lord is above all gods. I implore you not to abuse the great plan of salvation by not being a godly parent. It is unwise to be morally correct yet unrighteous. It is unwise to achieve much recognition in this world yet be told by Christ, depart from Me I know you not.  Accept Christ through repentance, confession of sins and the Holy Spirit will convert you. You may want to do so but are daunted by the circumstances of your life but the name of Jesus is a Strong Tower the righteous run into it and they are saved. Jesus is coming soon. Today we have access to true and free salvation. Praise the Lord.    Writer- A. E. • WHO ARE YOU IN CHRIST?

Are you a Spiritual Jew or a Redeemed Gentile? Who are Jews? According to the https://www.ajc.org/news/who-are-the-jews The Jewish People are an ethno-religious group and nation originating in the Land of Israel, which is the current location of the State of Israel. In a document posted on https://www.jewfaq.org/who_is_a_jew we learn the following: The word "Jew" (in Hebrew, "Yehudi") is derived from the name Judah, which was the name of one of Jacob's twelve sons. Judah was the ancestor of one of the tribes of Israel, which was named after him. Likewise, the word Judaism literally means "Judah-ism," that is, the religion of the Yehudim. Other sources, however, say that the word "Yehudim" means "People of  G-d ," because the first three Hebrew letters of "Yehudah" are the same as the first three letters of G-d's four-letter  name . One fact that stands out in both statements is that the people who are called Jews are a group of people who are specially connected to Almighty God. SPIRITUAL JEWS A spiritual Jew is an individual from the lineage of Abraham who believes and accepts that Jesus is the Messiah. PHYSICAL JEW Being a physical Jew speaks to ethnicity. This is a person who is a direct descendant of Abraham. It is possible to be a physical Jew but not a spiritual one. Can you be a spiritual Jew while being a non-Jew? Let us examine a few verses from Romans chapter 2 Romans 2:24   For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. Apostle Paul was making a direct distinction between two groups of people by telling the Jews that due to their emphasis on fulfilling the Mosaic ordinances which Jesus had blotted out they were causing the non-Jews to stumble. The non-Jews (Gentiles) were being forced to adhere to the Jewish Old Testament ordinances which were fulfilled in Christ. Such rejection by those who would have known better is termed blasphemy by Apostle Paul. The Mosaic Laws are different from the Ten Commandments. The Mosaic Laws are likened to a schoolmaster. Galatians 3:24-25 - Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith . But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. Galatians 3:19 explains the purpose of the Mosaic Laws. It reads, W herefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator . The Ten Commandments are now written on the fleshy tables of our heart. They are the guideposts that points us to righteousness. They abide forever and we are judged by them. Romans 2:25-29 -  For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision. 26 Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? 27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law? Apostle Paul was pointing out that it was not the act of physical circumcision that makes one righteous but the relationship with God. Therefore, if the physically uncircumcised is obedient to God then that individual is more righteous that the physically circumcised who is living in disobedience to God. 28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. In these verses Paul was telling the Jews who claimed an exalted position through their ethnicity that they were now in a new era and being of Abraham’s lineage and being only circumcised in the flesh is not the true definition of a Jew. A Jew is one who is a descendant of Abraham and possesses a circumcised heart. The ordinance of circumcision was first given to Abraham. It was a sign to differentiate between the physical descendants of Abraham and others. Although others who were not direct descendants of Abraham adjoined themselves to the Abrahamic group. These people were enjoined to enjoy the blessings of those who were faithful to God. They never took unto themselves the title of - spiritual Jew. We ought to be very clear as to who we are. Revelation 2:9 tells us, I know thy works and tribulation and poverty but thou art rich and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews and are not but are of the synagogue of Satan.  This is a statement that should cause us to tread carefully when claiming identity. Since there is so much controversy  about whether one is a spiritual Jew or a Gentile. Let us closely examine the Scriptures to learn the truth bearing in mind that Christ said there are those who say that they are Jews but instead they are of the synagogue of Satan.   When was the name Israel first used in the Scriptures?       Genesis 32:27-28 - And He said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And He said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed . At this initial meeting the name Israel was given to a man named Jacob  When Moses was sent by God to Pharaoh what was he instructed to say to Pharaoh?  Exodus 4:22 -  And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:  At this time God was not referring to Jacob but to his descendants who had then become the nation of Israel.  To what was Israel likened in Isaiah 41:8? But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend. The relationship between God and Israel was that of a Master and a chosen servant bound together by a bond of friendship. Genesis 45:5 tells us about a  young man named Joseph, the beloved son of Jacob. He got dreams about him and his family which indicated that he was especially blessed. This was a factor which fueled jealousy in his siblings. They sold him as a slave and he was taken to Egypt. The siblings thought that they were doing him harm but instead God used his presence in Egypt to preserve his family lives. This can be linked to the New Testament account of another Joseph, who also had dreams before going into Egypt to preserve his family’s lives. Matthew 2:13-14 - And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.  When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: God preserved the nation of Israel while they were in bondage in Egypt and He preserved Jesus, His Only Begotten Son and our Redeemer by sending the family into Egypt. Jesus came to bring a common salvation to everyone. He came to break down the middle wall of partition. Ephesians 2:13-16 – But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 And that He might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby. When Jesus died the curtain in the Temple was torn from top to bottom and for the first time everyone could see into the Holy of the Holiest. This was symbolic of the unification which was made available through Jesus' sacrifice. No longer would we be bounded by the laws of rituals, ceremonies and sacrifices but we were presented with the chance to be saved through grace and obedience to the perfect will of God. To what was Jesus likened in Galatians 3:16? Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. This was an explanation to the prophecy about Jesus in Genesis 12:3.   And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. While nations are blessed because of Abraham’s faithfulness to God it is Christ alone who is our Saviour and has the ultimate power to bless the families of the whole earth.  What did God call Israel? Psalm 80:8 T hou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it. A vine is expected to bear fruit good for food. Jesus likened Himself to a vine but He stated that He was the True Vine. John 15 verse one-  I am The True Vine, and my Father is the Husbandman . This statement tells us that there are other kinds of vines.   How did Jesus refer to non-Israelites and what opportunities are offered to them? John 10:16 -   And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear My voice; and there shall be one-fold, and one shepherd. Who is justified through faith? Romans 3:29-30 -   Is He the God of the Jews only? is He not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: 30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Jesus told the woman at the well in Samaria that salvation is of the Jews. He was pointing out that Abraham was instrumental in the plan for a common salvation. A common salvation points to God’s lack of partiality and the offering of salvation to all nations regardless of their spiritual state. Romans 4:2-4- For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt . It was not works that propelled Abraham into the position of being a friend of God it was his faith in God. He believed God always. We cannot work to appease God and to gain entry into His Kingdom. We must exercise faith knowing that God never fails or disappoints.  What else did Apostle Paul say about Israel and the Gentiles?  Romans 9:30-33-   30   What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. 31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. 32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; 33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed. Israel stumbled when they rejected Jesus as their Messiah. In their blindness they continue to believe that they can be saved by their works according to the Laws of Ordinances. The same laws that Jesus had blotted out. While they are stumbling the Gentiles are pushing on by faith. This is not an opportunity for the Gentiles to boast against the Jews because non-Jews as a wild olive plant are engrafted into the true olive plant. Thus, again there is a clear distinction between the behaviour and position of Jews and Gentiles.  Romans 10:1, 12-13,21-   Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 But to Israel He saith, all day long I have stretched forth My hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people. Paul desire was the salvation of Israel. He desired that the people who were called to lead the world to God would arise from their slumber and by faith do the will of God. This is also God's desire. As stated, God has not put any differences between Jews and non-Jews it is the people who have caused a barrier to be in place. That barrier is sin . Today and always, we ought to pray that everyone will accept salvation. Romans 11:18-25 - 18 -   Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. 19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in. 20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: 21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest He also spare not thee. 22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in His goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again. 24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree? 25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. The branches refer to Israel. There are many who speak ill of that nation. This ought not to be done. Salvation came to us through them. Abraham's faith caused a great spiritual transformation on this earth. We are grateful that he withstood amidst the challenges. However, just being  physical descendants of Abraham does not guarantee eternal life. In order for one to inherit everlasting life the individual must be justified in Christ. Is Israel condemned, NO. There is hope for Israel and in the 1000 years reign of Christ, the partial blindness of Israel shall be removed. The 1000 years period is a teaching period and all who had no knowledge of God's truth and those who were partially blinded shall be taught. It will be a glorious time for the nation of Israel. There will be the opportunity to reinstate their friendship with God and their final reward will be according to their choice during this period. We are now in the era for salvation to non-Jews. Non-Jews are not partially blinded and the Holy Spirit is present to guide all those who seek the undiluted truth which is contained within the Scriptures. it is important that non-Jews take heed because if Israel the nation specially chosen by God for His divine purpose was put aside because of their disobedience shall we not be rewarded similarly.   Why did Paul reprove Peter? Galatians 2:11-14 -     But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. 12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. 13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. 14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?  Peter got carried away with the Jewish laws and lost sight of the acts of justification which was revealed in Cornelius’ house. At Cornelius’ residence God demonstrated to all that His salvation is inclusive; the only barrier to being a recipient is – SIN.   What is the new covenant? Galatians 3:26-29 -   For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Alleluia!!! praise the Lord!!! There is freedom in Christ. Jesus is our Emancipator!!! Why are we forcing ourselves into the yoke which He has cast away from us? Let us bask into the richness of His salvation. We are not yoked to man's philosophies and ideologies but we are yoked in freedom to Christ.   Ephesians 2:18-22 -  For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.    Abraham’s seed as used in Galatians 3:29 is not telling us that Abraham is our spiritual father. This would be a contradiction to Jesus' command in Matthew 23:9 - And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. It is referring to the fruit of Abraham's faith in God. Abraham believed God and anticipated a Holy City. Due to his confidence in God, Jesus came through his lineage. Thus, Jesus said salvation is of the Jews. We also believe God through Jesus and are looking forward to that City. However, we will only enter that City through the grace of our Lord and Saviour  and not through the patriarch Abraham. Both Jews and Gentiles must exercise the same faith in God. We, the Gentiles, are engrafted into the True Vine which is Christ our Redeemer and have the opportunity to become heirs of Christ. We are not spiritual Jews neither are we Hebrew. The JEWS/HEBREWS are still partially blinded but non-Jews spiritual eyes are open.      Writer: A. E.
